Da Real World
Missy Elliot
(East World America)
| |
|
| |
|
| Missy Elliot wants her social cause to be in your face, right up in your face. In an effort to curb domestic violence, she has created a line of lipstick called “Misdemeanor”. Proceeds from the sales go towards a program that is aimed at youth intervention for would be offenders. Her fresh, freestyle approach is in everything she does, from marketing to songwriting. After writing for other artists she was begged by studios to record Da Real World (East World America) as a solo venture. As usual, Miss Elliot stands alone. |

| There are people who wear their heart on their sleeve, and then there are those who just wear it…everywhere. The band TLC takes their principles one step further than clothing. To advocate their belief in safe sex, all three women got up on stage dressed up in full, life size body condoms. While they continue to dress well, promote prophylactics and record music. Fanmail (LaFace), their 1999 album, is dedicated to the fans who have supported them through the years. |

Keep the Faith
Faith Evans
(Arista/BMG)
| |
|
| |
|
| They she may look soft, her tone may be angelic, but Faith Evans uses these gossamer charms to get tough and back up her beliefs. Faith Evans felt illiteracy happens more often than people think, and that she herself needed to do something about it. She decided to donate proceeds from her album Keep the Faith (Artista/BMG) to adult and child literacy programs. Her celestial sound benefits the reality of others and packs in a hip-hop beat. |
